GoFundMe Mississippi: Mississippians Create Over 17,000 GoFundMe Campaigns, Raise $12.3 Million
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — GoFundMe, the world’s largest social fundraising platform, today released new data highlighting the giving community in Mississippi. Mississippians have started over 17,000 GoFundMe campaigns, raising $12.3 million from nearly 195,000 total donations.
The Jackson metro area has created over 5,200 GoFundMe campaigns, raising $1.6 million from over 26,000 donations.
“Whether it’s a small business owner standing for equal rights, raising money to support your neighbors affected by the floods, or feeding the homeless population, folks in Mississippi routinely step up. There have been millions of dollars donated to thousands of GoFundMe campaigns to generously help their friends, family, and local communities during times of need,” said GoFundMe CEO Rob Solomon.

Jackson Gives Back
Irby Electrical Distributor based in Jackson, MS has an office in Baton Rouge, LA, and this GoFundMe campaign was started to help their colleagues in Louisiana during the tragic floods.
With the funds raised from this GoFundMe campaign, the folks from FeedJXN plan to provide a 5-star dining experience on November 20 to nearly two hundred of Jackson's homeless community, featuring food prepared by some of Mississippi's most notable Chefs.
There will be no lines, there will be no lunch trays—the diners will receive a dining experience like no other, and leave with their hearts full and souls fed. There will be great table-side conversations, outstanding food, live entertainment, and exceptional service.
“If You're buying, We're selling” was started by Mississippi business owners in response to the Religious Freedom Bill also known as SB2681. They distribute stickers free of charge to any business wanting to take a public stance against discrimination and for equal rights.
