The 105th Neediest Cases Fund kicked off on November 13, 2016—the first time the fund has been on the GoFundMe platform. To date, it has raised over $5.7 million, including $1.26 million from nearly 5,000 online donations. The donations poured in from all 50 states and 16 countries around the world, with an average donation size of $253.88.

The GoFundMe community is using the upcoming Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to spread love and kindness to those in need. Stacy Phillips in Huntersville, North Carolina has raised over $2,000 to help homeless women in her community. Sarah Schepker Lee of Dublin, Ohio is raising money for flowers and homemade Valentine’s day cards for nursing home residents. And 7-year-old Delila of Albuquerque is raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Saddened by a hot car death of a 6-month-old named Fern in his town, Bishop Curry has created a prototype of an invention that could help save the lives of infants. The fifth grader already has a provisional patent and a 3D model of his invention. Bishop’s father started this GoFundMe to raise money for attorney fees needed to finalize the patent, prototyping fees, and to help identify a manufacturer.
Touched by a fifth grader’s fight for his life, Arizona teacher Carrie Brown started this GoFundMe to help Shaun Hamilton and his dedicated family. Shaun’s older brother Malik has twice donated bone marrow, and soon he will be donating stem cells to help fight Shaun’s severe aplastic anemia.

When Phyllis collapsed in her convenience store, Maria acted quickly and ended up saving Phyllis’s life. Now Phyllis’s family wants to give back to the person they’re calling their “angel.” Maria is homeless and currently lives in her truck, so Phyllis’s family started this GoFundMe to put a roof over her head.
The Anaheim White House is a beloved local fixture recently destroyed by a devastating fire. Owner Bruno Serato is an Italian immigrant who came to the U.S. with $50 in his pocket and through hard work saved the money to open his restaurant 30 years ago. So far, this campaign has raised nearly $100,000 to help Bruno and his employees recover.

Legendary Latin jazz percussionist Giovanni Hidalgo is battling diabetes, which has prevented him from performing for the last two years. Now the music community is coming together to help him out, raising nearly $10,000 in just one day.
