GoFundMe Announces Winner of $10,000 #GoBeyondGiving Challenge

Winning Donation to Go to Two Rabbits, an International Nonprofit Preschool Program Founded by Harvard Grad Students

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. | December 20, 2016 — GoFundMe, the world’s largest social fundraising platform, today announced the winner of its #GoBeyond Giving Challenge. The $10,000 donation will go to Two Rabbits, a nonprofit international preschool program founded by four Harvard graduate students that brings pre-K education to some of the world’s most underserved populations.

“We are so thrilled and honored to win the #GoBeyondGiving challenge,” said Sarah Strader, founder of Two Rabbits. “GoFundMe has been our fuel and inspiration as we’ve worked to bring preschool education to children in Cameroon and Myanmar. The $10,000 will help us make our educational plans a reality and enable us to send staff to the field to bring joyful learning to these fantastic students.”

“We couldn’t be happier to give this well-earned donation to Two Rabbits,” said GoFundMe CEO Rob Solomon. “Sarah and her team have shown it's possible to help people in places as far away as Cameroon and Myanmar by harnessing the power of social fundraising. We can't wait to see how they change the worlds of their bright young students in 2017 and beyond.”

Two Rabbits takes its name from a saying of the Baka people of Cameroon, which describes the challenge of pursuing both traditional and modern paths as trying to “chase two rabbits at once”—if you try, you will lose them both. Two Rabbits bridges that divide by incorporating cultural pride and traditions into literacy and numeracy curricula in the local language, with songs, stories, and games.
